The Color of Canberra

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope you are wearing green, lest you experience a virtual pinching. But did you know today is Canberra Day in Australia? It's a day that that Australian's celebrate as the day that Canberra was named, the capital of the Commonwealth of Australia. Who knows what color they wear for that day though, those crazy Aussies.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about jobs as of late. It seems the closer I get to graduating and becoming a real person, the more confusion there is in the job that I'm supposed to be doing. I think about the things that I'm good at and the things that I'm passionate about, and I'm not sure where it leads me. I once had a prof who told me that our calling is an intersection between where our skills and passions meet. While it sounds good on paper, I'm not so sure how well it plays out now. You know, like Communism.

It is even more exaggerated when the job market is getting worse as we speak. I almost feel bad wanting a job when there are so many people around me that are losing theirs. But it makes me wonder with all the pressure with trying to find a job out there, maybe there isn't just one place we are supposed to be. Maybe for now, especially in this economical climate, it's about finding something to get by. We can still do the things that we are passionate about, but perhaps those passions are things we do in our free time.

Perhaps I'm just stressed with the idea of trying to find a job eventually. But it's a topic of conversation that makes most people my age stressed these days. But why keep living stressed when today is a perfect day to distract ourselves with emerald colored goodies. Here's to distracting yourself from life's problems!

There's no such thing as the future.

Silly communism.
